Tansa, a small river in Salsett island, in the Thana district of Bombay, which provides the city of Bombay with its watersupply. It is embanked by one of the largest masonry dams in the world, built in 1892. The embankment is nearly 2 m. long, 118 ft. high, and iio ft. thick at the base.
