Seine, or SEAN (0. Fr. seigne, mod. seine, Lat. sagena, Gr. att-Hvn, a draw-net), a type of fishing net, consisting of an expanse of netting weighted at the bottom and floated at the top edge by corks, cast from a boat or ship to enclose a space of water and then drawn into the vessel or to shore.
